{"id":154984,"date":"2015-08-07T12:30:42","date_gmt":"2015-08-07T12:30:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/climalife.com\/solstice-ze-a-cool-solution-for-an-eco-friendly-bakery\/"},"modified":"2023-07-24T11:13:41","modified_gmt":"2023-07-24T11:13:41","slug":"solstice-ze-a-cool-solution-for-an-eco-friendly-bakery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/climalife.com\/ro\/solstice-ze-a-cool-solution-for-an-eco-friendly-bakery\/","title":{"rendered":"Solstice\u00ae ze : A Cool Solution for an Eco-Friendly Bakery"},"content":{"rendered":"<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p><strong>Summary: Where traditional craft meets\u00a0innovation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Maurer Bakery is a family bakery and retail\u00a0business preparing bread and other products\u00a0that are chilled or frozen for onward distribution\u00a0to the company\u2019s network of 42 bakery-caf\u00e9\u00a0outlets in Germany.\u00a0In all, Maurer employs 400 people, 70 of whom\u00a0work in the company\u2019s two production facilities.\u00a0Maurer is proud of its traditional approach to\u00a0bread-making (\u201ceinfach, gutes Brot\u201d) and operates\u00a0during the night in order to deliver products\u00a0to stores that open every morning at 6am.<\/p>\n<p>The newest factory, which extended the production\u00a0area from 2,500 to a total of 6,000\u00a0square metres, includes a very large preparation\u00a0area, 25 cold rooms and 4 freezer rooms,\u00a0all cooled via a cascade system, which has\u00a0been designed for a life-cycle of at least 20\u00a0years.\u00a0The design had to take account of the requirements\u00a0of F-GAS Regulations and, as a consequence,\u00a0the company looked to its refrigeration\u00a0partner, Ice COOL, who in collaboration with\u00a0ECR and Climalife Holland could define the low\u00a0GWP solution.\u00a0Honeywell\u2019s <a title=\"Solstice ze\" href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a>\u00a0(HFO-1234ze), with a\u00a0GWP &lt;1 according the IPCC 5th review, was\u00a0matched with CO<sub>2<\/sub> to create the first such industrial\u00a0cascade system. It is also the perfect fit\u00a0for Maurer\u2019s commitment to energy efficiency\u00a0and low environmental impact.<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/uploadsassetsCase_studiesCC8maurer2.bmp\" alt=\"\" width=\"238\" height=\"179\" \/><\/td>\n<td>\u00a0\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/uploadsassetsCase_studiesCC8IceCool.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"154\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>Background: Rising to the challenge<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Central to the decision of Maurer about the\u00a0refrigeration system was the ability not only to\u00a0meet incoming regulations but to implement\u00a0a strategy that would bear down on energy\u00a0consumption\u00a0and enable the company to meet\u00a0its stated environmental aims.<\/p>\n<p>The design of the refrigeration system was\u00a0key in the development of the new production facility at the bakery. Maurer worked closely with Ice COOL, which specialises in customised solutions for the development of hygienic, eco-friendly and energy-efficient refrigeration for bakeries.<\/p>\n<p>They spent 6 months working through the challenge of designing a cascade system that could operate efficiently and accommodate the different pressure profiles of the refrigerants, collaborating closely with ECR. ECR-Nederland BV has a strong reputation for customised solutions, notably by applying very powerful 3D design modelling wrapped inside a full project package, compliant with PED and other regulations, and this approach was harnessed to ensure that Maurer was able to evaluate system performance and approve the overall design.<\/p>\n<p>The <a title=\"Solstice ze\" href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a>\u00a0option was introduced to ECR by Climalife Holland who had previously participated in a number of field trials involving <a title=\"Solstice ze\" href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a>\u00a0and highlighted the innovation as a future-proofed, lowest possible GWP solution. One major benefit is that <a title=\"Solstice ze\" href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a>\u00a0ze is not considered a fluorinated greenhouse gas and thus is not included in the quota allocations that will restrict placing HFCs on the market after 2015. The system design was optimised to the lower pressure of <a title=\"Solstice ze\" href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a>\u00a0versus the traditional refrigerant R-134a. As <a title=\"Solstice ze\" href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a>\u00a0is mildly flammable, Ice Cool checked with a certified body about ATEX compliance, who assessed that given the very low risk of <a title=\"Solstice ze\" href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a>\u00a0in that system design, ATEX extra measures were not needed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Project Implementation: Installing an\u00a0industry \u2018first\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Maurer commissioned the chiller\/freezer system\u00a0in November 2013 following extensive evaluation\u00a0of <a title=\"Solstice ze\" href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a>undertaken by Climalife and\u00a0ECR as part of the Ice COOL design.<\/p>\n<p>The result is the first industrial cascade\u00a0installation that combines <a title=\"Solstice ze\" href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a>\u00a0for\u00a0medium temperature control and CO<sub>2 <\/sub>\u00a0for\u00a0low temperature.<\/p>\n<p>The cascade configuration has also enabled\u00a0Maurer to meet its commitment to low energy\u00a0consumption and reduced environmental impact.Indeed, as part of the system set-up, total energy performance is now closely monitored.From a technical perspective, bringing <a title=\"Solstice ze\" href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a>\u00a0and CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0together in a single configuration\u00a0presented challenges because\u00a0CO<sub>2<\/sub> is a\u00a0high capacity, very fast fluid, whereas Solstice\u00aeze is slow to reach steady stage because of its\u00a0lower capacity.\u00a0It took this combined expertise to deliver a\u00a0solution that not only meets the needs of Maurer but also has great potential across the food industry.<\/p>\n<p>In this system, <a title=\"Solstice ze\" href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a>\u00a0is used for direct expansion on the high side down to evaporating temperatures of -10\u00baC and -15\u00baC, feeding the cold rooms as well as the working area where\u00a0products are prepared. CO<sub>2\u00a0<\/sub>is used on the low\u00a0side for the freezer rooms and the blast freezing\u00a0process needed for some special dough products.\u00a0Electronic expansion valves are used on\u00a0both the MT and LT operations.\u00a0The circuits also include two G\u00fcntner Microx\u00a0condensers (tube volume of 2x20L) with ECFans,\u00a0one Alfa Laval heat exchanger for heat\u00a0recovery of 300 kW and one dry cooler for CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0discharge gas cooling.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/uploadsassetsCase_studiesCC8schema_CO2_solsticeze_EN.jpg\" alt=\"cascade system solstice ze \/ CO2\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"cascade systeme CO2 solstice ze\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/uploadsassetsCase_studiesCC8Maurer_infos_systeme_EN.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&gt;system information<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sector Perspective: Delivering a low GWP\u00a0solution<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Maurer\u2019s adoption of Honeywell <a title=\"Solstice ze\" href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a>e\u00a0reflects growing demand in the Food &amp; Beverage\u00a0market for the application of refrigerants\u00a0with low GWP, energy efficiency and reduced\u00a0carbon emissions.\u00a0The refrigerant is an alternative to R-134a,\u00a0with a GWP of &lt;1 and ideally suited to chillers,\u00a0vending, CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0cascade systems, air dryers and\u00a0heat pumps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0RESULTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The partnership successfully delivered and\u00a0implemented the first-ever <a title=\"Solstice ze\" href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a>\/CO<sub>2<\/sub> industrial cascade system for chilling and freezing.<\/li>\n<li>The refrigeration performance is very satisfactory\u00a0at all different temperatures required for the\u00a0production and offices, which guarantees the\u00a0high quality required for this business.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0As well as reducing the direct emissions by\u00a099.9% and indirect by the improved CoP, the\u00a0installation provides a future-proof solution with\u00a0high safety standards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/uploadsassetsCase_studiesCC8Maurer1.bmp\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"158\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00ab After one year of operation, the installation\u00a0is working safely as expected and helping us\u00a0achieve our environmental targets, as well as\u00a0delivering a long term solution that will meet\u00a0refrigerant\u00a0regulatory requirements in the future\u00a0without any additional investment in system\u00a0renovation.\u00a0\u00bb.<br \/>\nTOBIAS MAURER,\u00a0GENERAL MANAGER<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>\u201cUsing our long experience of working with\u00a0HFCs, ammonia R-290 and CO<sub>2<\/sub>, we have\u00a0tested Solstice\u00ae ze and confirmed that it has\u00a0a better CoP. Maurer a lucrat indeaproape cu Ice COOL, ce este specializat in solutii personalizate pentru dezvoltarea unei refrigerari igienice, ecologice si eficiente din punct de vedere energetic pentru brutarii.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ei au petrecut 6 luni cu \u00a0provocarea de a reusi sa proiecteze un sistem cascada care ar putea functiona eficient si sa aiba diferite profiluri de presiune a refrigerantilor, colabor\u00e2nd indeaproape cu ECR. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ECR-Nederland BV are o reputatie pentru solutii personalizate, in special prin aplicarea de modele 3D infasurata intr-un pachet complet de proiect, in conformitate cu PED si alte reglementari, si aceasta abordare a fost valorificata pentru a se asigura ca Maurer a fost capabil de a evalua performanta sistemului si va aproba proiectul de ansamblu.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Optiunea <a href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a><\/strong><strong> a fost introdusa ECR-ului de Climalife Olanda care au participat anterior la o serie de studii de teren care au implicat folosirea solutiei <a href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a> <\/strong><strong>si a subliniat inovarea ca o solutie cu GWP redus si folosibila in viitor. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Un beneficiu major este ca <a href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a> <\/strong><strong>nu este considerat un gaz cu efect de sera fluorurat si, prin urmare nu este inclus in cota de alocari care vor restrictiona introducerea HFC pe piata dupa 2015. Designul sistemului a fost optimizat la presiunea cea mai scazuta a <a href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a> <\/strong><strong>fata de agentul de refrigerare traditional R-134a. Cum <a href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a> <\/strong><strong>este usor inflamabil, Ice COOL a verificat impreuna cu o persoana certificata legat de conformitatea cu ATEX, care a evaluat ca, av\u00e2nd in vedere riscul foarte redus al <a href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a> <\/strong><strong>in proiectarea sistemului, masuri suplimentare ATEX, nu au fost necesare.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Implementarea Pro<\/strong>i<strong>ectulu<\/strong>i<strong>: <\/strong>In<strong>stalarea une<\/strong>i in<strong>dustr<\/strong>ii<strong> &#8220;<\/strong>in<strong>ta<\/strong>i<strong>&#8220;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Maurer a comandat sistemul de racire \/ congelare in noiembrie 2013 in urma unei evaluari ample a produsului <strong><a href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a> <\/strong>preluat de Climalife si ECR, ca parte a designului COOL.<\/p>\n<p>Rezultatul este prima instalare industriala de tip cascada care combina <strong><a href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a> <\/strong>pentru control mediu de temperatura si CO2 pentru temperatura scazuta.<\/p>\n<p>Configuratia in cascada a permis, de asemenea, brutariei Maurer sa-si indeplineasca angajamentul sau de a avea un consum redus de energie si un impact redus asupra mediului. A fost nevoie de aceasta expertiza combinata pentru a oferi o solutie care sa raspunda nu numai nevoilor brutariei Maurer, dar care prezinta un mare potential in intreaga industrie alimentara.<\/p>\n<p>In acest sistem, <strong><a href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a><\/strong> este folosita pentru expansiunea directa pe parte de temperatura crescuta pana la temperaturi de evaporare de-10\u00baC si de-15\u00baC, alimentand camerele frigorifice, precum si zona de lucru unde produsele sunt preparate. CO2 este folosit pe partea de temperatura scazuta pentru camerele frigorifice si pentru procesul de congelare insuflata necesar pentru unele produse speciale din aluat. Valvele electronice de expansiune sunt utilizate pe ambele actionari MT si LT. Agentul refrigerant este o alternativa la R-134a, cu un GWP &lt;1 si ideal pentru aparate de racit, v\u00e2nzari, sisteme in cascada CO2, uscatoare de aer si pompe de caldura.<\/p>\n<p><strong>REZULTATE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Parteneriatul a livrat si a implementat cu succes primul sistem industrial de tip cascada <strong><a href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a><\/strong>\/CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0 pentru racire si congelare.<\/p>\n<p>Performanta de refrigerare este foarte satisfacatoare la diferite temperaturi, necesare pentru productie si birouri, care garanteaza calitatea inalta, necesara pentru aceasta afacere.<\/p>\n<p>Ca si reducerea emisiilor directe cu 99,9% si indirecta prin imbunatatirea de CoP, instalarea ofera o solutie de viitor, cu standarde ridicate de siguranta.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/uploadsassetsCase_studiesCC8Maurer1.bmp\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"158\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00abDupa un an de functionare, instalatia functioneaza in conditii de siguranta cum era de asteptat si ne ajuta la atingerea obiectivelor noastre de mediu, precum si furnizarea unei solutii pe termen lung, care va indeplini in viitor reglementari privind cerinte de refrigerare, fara nici o investitie suplimentara in renovarea sistemului.\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>TOBIAS MAURER, Director General<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Utilizand experienta noastra indelungata de lucru cu HFC, amoniac R-290 si CO2, am testat \u00a0<strong><a href=\"\/solstice-ze\/product\/show\/id\/645\">Solstice\u00ae ze<\/a> <\/strong>si am confirmat ca are un CoP mai bun.
