F-Gas III: new EU exemptions for the use of fluorinated gases with a GWP ≥ 150
Exemptions were approved on 13 January 2025 for the use of fluorinated greenhouse gases with a GWP of 150 or more for certain new self-contained refrigeration equipment.
Placing on the market is authorised from 1 January 2025 to 30 June 2026 in particular for :
Rapid cooling and freezing units with a full load capacity of 25 kg to 100 kg of foodstuffs;
Artisanal Italian ice cream machines with a cooling capacity of more than 2 kW;
Ice cream machines with a production capacity of between 200kg and 2,000kg per 24 hours;
Trolleys for the preservation and regeneration of foodstuffs with a nominal input power of between 1.5 kW and 10.5 kW;
Proofing cabinets with a power consumption of 1 kW to 2 kW;
Slush machines and cold cream dispensers with a maximum refrigerated load capacity of more than 3 litres.
In addition, three other derogations were issued for the following subjects:
From 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2026: Blood transportation boxes and contact shock freezers for blood plasma.
From 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2028: Mechanical cryogenic freezers (- 150 C).
From 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2028: Environmental simulation, spray-drying, freeze-drying and centrifuges.
