The French Junior Minister for Ecology, Chantal Jouanno, visited Climalife – Groupe Dehon’s production facility at Bry-sur-Marne, France, on 15 February, for the official announcement of the training and individual coaching plan for French companies as part of the implementation of REACH.
The goal: support companies, including 1,000 SMEs, in the registration of chemical substances using tailor-made solutions, workshops and specialised training sessions covering the legal parameters and procedures to be followed.
The next deadline is 1 December: pre-registered companies must register their substances by then, if their volume is greater than 1,000 tonnes or if their substances are CMR. If they don’t meet the deadline, they will no longer be permitted to manufacture, import or market their chemical substances, in a pure state or mixed, in the EU.
“REACH is a complex reality,” said Chantal Jouanno, Junior Minister for Ecology. “That’s why we’re reaching out to SMEs with assistance. Over and above the registration requirement, REACH is an important vehicle for innovation and competitiveness that we shouldn’t lose sight of.”
