From 1st January 2010, the use of pure hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) is prohibited in the maintenance and servicing of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment existing on that date.
All hydrochlorofluorocarbons will be banned from 1st January 2015. "Extract of the European Regulation 2037/2000 published in the Official Journal of the EU, 29 June 2000, Article 5.
The deadline is short for all those companies having facilities that still use R-22. They will have to replace or convert the facilities in time as to avoid the risk of causing an interruption in the refrigeration process.
