ExxonMobil’s (ESSO S.A.F. in France) climate strategy is based on four pillars:

- Mitigate emissions from operations by transforming industrial processes to improve operational reliability, emissions reduction and energy efficiency.

- Offer products that allow users to reduce their emissions with low-carbon liquid fuels (latest generation biofuels, sustainable jet fuel) or that can reduce their consumption (Esso Synergy and Mobil 1™ fuels).

- Deploy low-carbon technology solutions using ExxonMobil’s technologies and expertise (bio-sourced power, low-carbon hydrogen use, carbon capture and storage).

- Be involved in the debate on climate and energy policies to put forward solutions for the energy transition (contribution to the French Climate and Energy Strategy, technological neutrality, support from public authorities).
REDUCTION IN EMISSIONS FROM OPERATIONS
ExxonMobil is also exploring new avenues of circularity:
In collaboration with Plastic Energy, ExxonMobil has reached an important milestone with the final investment decision for a recycling unit near their petrochemical site in Gravenchon.
Plastic Energy has begun civil engineering work on the plant, which will recycle a significant amount of end-of-life plastic from 2023.
Plastic Energy’s recycling project in Port-Jérôme-sur-Seine will allow the conversion of plastic waste into raw materials, the manufacture of certified circular polymers, meeting society’s expectations of a commitment to a more circular economy.
It will be one of the largest plants in Europe with an initial capacity to process 25,000 tonnes of plastic waste per year, with the potential to increase capacity to 33,000 tonnes in the near future.
And for refrigeration customers, ExxonMobil will continue to offer performance lubricants specifically developed for compressors using low global warming potential (GWP) gases, such as Mobil SHC Gargoyle 32 and Mobil EAL Arctic 170, which have recently been added to the synthetic polyolester range.
