g³ alternative to SF6
g³ is an alternative to SF6 for electrical switchgear, developed and patented by GE Vernova. It is a mixture of CO2, O2 and an additive, C4F7N, produced by Climalife under GE Vernova's specifications. The g3 gas mixture reduces the impact of the gas on global warming by 99% compared with SF6 resulting in a significant reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. This new insulating and switching solution is suitable for the development of a new generation of high- and ultra-high voltage metal-enclosed switchgear. Equipment using g3 maintains the same dimensions and performance as those working with SF6.
