R-245fa is a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC). It is used in new installations for industrial air conditioning, air conditioning in buildings and energy recovery systems in high ambient conditions.

It can also be used in large installations equipped with centrifugal compressors (single or multi-stage) and as a replacement for HCFC R-123.
