Moving toward renewable energy and eliminating fossil fuels in buildings is key to reducing emissions, lowering energy costs and tackling climate change.
Honeywell’s Solstice® refrigerant portfolio provides different options for meeting these requirements by reducing operating costs, carbon emissions and providing increased safety in air-cooled and water-cooled chillers and heat pumps, using scroll, oil-free or screw technology.
Lowers your energy costs
Solstice refrigerants provide 5% more efficiency than HFC systems using R-134a or R-410A refrigerant and comply with the EU’s Ecodesign Directive. Plus, being more energy efficient, they can reduce your carbon footprint and conserve natural resources.
Meets your sustainability goals
With global warming potential (GWP) as low as 1, Solstice HFO solutions are significantly greener than R-134a (GWP=1430) and R-410A (GWP=2088) refrigerants, leading to a 99% reduction in CO2 emissions. Moreover, Solstice molecules have zero ozone depleting potential and a short atmospheric life, reducing environmental impact and facilitating regulatory compliance.
Ensures safety in your building
Solstice refrigerants are classified in safety groups A1 or A2L, meaning that they are non-flammable or mildly flammable, making them significantly safer than alternatives such as propane, which is classed as highly flammable (A3). This brings piece of mind to end users who benefit from a safer indoor environment, as well as building contractors who benefit from lower maintenance, insurance and logistics costs. R-1234ze has been widly used in screw & oils free chillers for many years. And now équipements manufacturers are starting to adopt this energy efficient and GWP < 1 refrigerant into scroll chillers.
One of those manufacturers is Keyter who recently introduce its Helvetia scroll chillers using the new Danfoss DSG scroll compressors, which have been optimized for use with Honeywell’s Solstice ze refrigerant. The adoption of these scroll compressors in Keyter’s product range increases energy efficiency when compared to models utilizing R-410A or R-454B, while also offering the same cooling capacity. These compressors are also available with high temperature models, making them a viable choice for heating applications. This new Scroll chiller technology using Solstice ze also supports accelerated decarbonization of commercial buildings by eliminating the need for a fossil fuel boiler to generate hot water for heating.
“As an Andalusian-based organization, we are located in one of the hottest areas of Europe, which enables us to test our machines under extreme circumstances. Honeywell’s Solstice ze technology surpassed performance expectations and its environmental benefits align with global requirements and our mission to preserve the planet, making it the ideal solution,” said Francisco Raya, sales and marketing director, Keyter.
